Course Description

What kind of photographer are you? This course is designed to teach the novice photographer to become a more advanced shooter. Topics covered include: equipment use, composition, lighting, flash, sports, portraits, and landscape photography. Advanced digital manipulation techniques will also be covered using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. This class is divided into two parts, a classroom component held Wednesday evenings and off-campus shooting sessions held Saturday mornings.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will gain a formative understanding of digital image capturing and manipulation techniques.

Notes

Cameras: Participants MUST have a DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual control capabilities.

Required Supplies: USB flash drive (4-8 GB) and note-taking materials (notebook and pen/pencil).

Suggested Supplies (Not Required): Additional lenses, speedlight/external flash, and/or SD card reader.

Certificates of Completion: Students will be able to generate and print a certificate of completion for the course, through their personal portal, upon satisfactory completion of the class.

High School/Minor Students: If you are currently enrolled in high school AND/OR are 17 years of age or younger wishing to register, you will need to do so by contacting the Student Care Team at (336) 734-7718 as certain restrictions may apply.

Prerequisites

This course is open to all ability levels. However, some prior computer-using experience is required.
